It all begins with a desire.

It seems a little odd that after 15 years working in the press, writing a blog does NOT come naturally! Anyway, here goes……

It all began with a desire.

I have always wanted to take photographs. I loved flicking through magazines, newspapers and photography books, soaking in the imagery. News and travel photography were my go-to. Story-telling. Whether it be a news story from across the world or a new place being explored in some distant land, I was drawn in. Then I got my first camera!

Nowadays, after being lucky enough to have had a career as a press photographer for almost 15 years, I have so many memories of stories I have covered and amazing photographers I was able to learn from. I remember years ago when I went to the Evening Chronicle in Newcastle for some work experience, one of their staff photographers said to me, ‘Its a dying industry pet, no future in it now, I wouldn’t bother…’ but I am so glad I did!
